Aspects and Traits, explained

Aspect is an Anima's element and Trait is its combat role, and they give you two separate ways to build a team.

Every Anima has one Aspect and one Trait. The Aspect is its element. The Trait is its combat role. Both are fixed to the creature, and together they tell you what it brings to a board.

The useful part is that these are two separate ways to build a team. You can group your board around a shared Aspect, around a shared Trait, or mix the two. There's no single right answer, so it's worth trying both as you learn.

When you field enough Anima that share an Aspect, or enough that share a Trait, you unlock a team buff. These thresholds are called breakpoints, and the buff switches on once you hit the set count.

One thing that trips people up: duplicate copies of the same Anima don't raise the count. What matters is how many distinct Anima share that Aspect or Trait, so variety is what gets you to a breakpoint.

The breakpoint numbers are community-sourced from the beta and will change, so treat them as a snapshot. You can see each Aspect and Trait with its breakpoints on the Mechanics page, and test combinations in the Comp Builder.
